Candle Magic

We all know that colours represent certain moods and can invoke certain feelings, but when it comes to candles, most people seem to buy candles just to suit their home décor without giving any thought to what the colour actually means. By burning candles of different colours, we can concentrate on different parts of our lives. The colours are also linked to the sun signs, so there are two ways of focusing on what we want to achieve. Try to match your candles as closely as possible to the colours listed below :

Before you begin, anoint the candles to be used all over with rose or amber oil. Rub the candles from the middle up and then from the middle down, focusing your thoughts as you anoint each candle on the person that they represent. To give you an example of how to burn the candles effectively, we'll take a look at the most popular ritual - "The Love Ritual".

Place one candle which you feel best reflects your personality (e.g. yellow if you're a Virgo) at the north corner of your altar. Now choose a second candle which is to represent the person you would like to meet. A green candle would be good if you are looking for a sensitive Cancerian lover, a white candle for a sincere Aries gentlemen, etc. Place this candle on the south corner of your altar and concentrate on the unknown person you would like to attract.

You will now require two red candles, which should be anointed and placed below the first two candles. These red candles stand for energy and lust and will ensure that there is a physical connection between you. To complete the lay-out of the candles, place a yellow candle at the north corner next to your own candle. This candle represents the charm and confidence you are going to need to attract the person you want.

Light your candle in the north corner, reciting aloud: "My heart is open, my spirit soars." Light the red candle below it and say: "Bring my love to me. Let him feel my yearning. Blessed be." Light the candle representing your love and say: "This is the heart of another, I see him clearly before me." Light the second red candle and recite: "Speed my message on your wings of desire. Make my lover burn with desire." Lastly, light the yellow candle and say: "To be as one together is all that he would wish. No rest shall he find until beside her he does lie." Leave the candles to burn for a few minutes before blowing them out.
