Love Spells

Most people start dabbling in the Craft when they have problems in their love life and I'm no different. A warning before we start - please don't ever try magic just to see if it works. Only do it when there is a genuine need and do not try to harm those around you with magic. When things do start to happen, don't just dismiss them as coincidence. This is a word too freely used to explain away anything unusual, incredible or difficult to understand. You need to believe in yourself and what you're doing.

We need to feel at our best in order to produce enough power for our spells to work. This means that you need be in good shape by exercising regularly and watching your diet. Try to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and avoid sugar and junk foods. It is also important to eat and drink nothing but wholemeal bread, honey and water for at least 24 hours before trying a new spell. Prepare your altar by draping a small table with red or burgundy fabric and decorate it with items that represent love to you.

Once your body and mind is at its peak and you are ready to start working magic, make sure that nobody is going to disturb you. You are going to need all your energy and concentration and won't be able to relax if you keep expecting someone to phone or knock on the door. Switch your mobile off, take your phone off the hook and disconnect your doorbell. Get a clear picture in your mind of what you want to achieve and remain focused on this at all times.

To find new love, wait until two days before the full moon and place a pink votive candle, a rose and a small bell on your altar. Anoint your candle with rose oil, carve the name of your heart's desire into the candle and recite : "I will find true love." Light the candle and ring the bell three times, at the same time repeating : "As this wax begins to melt, a new love I will be dealt. As this flame gets even higher, I will feel my lover's desire." Watch the candle burn down completely, directing loving thoughts into it's flame.

To bind someone's love to you, you will need a small piece of parchment paper, rose or amber oil and red thread. Write the name of your love in red ink and roll the scroll up tightly. Anoint the paper with the oil and tie the scroll with the thread, reciting one line of the spell with each knot : "By knot of one - the spell's begun; by knot of two - it cometh true; by knot of three - so mote it be; by knot of four - this power I store; by knot of five - this spell's alive!" Keep your love scroll under three red candles on your altar until your will is done.

If you would like confirmation that your newfound love really is the one for you, make a small amulet from red velvet or satin. Stuff it with lavender, cinnamon, cloves, a vanilla pod, thyme and a drop or two of jasmine oil. Tie the ends together and cradle in both hands until your warmth and energy infuse the potpourri. Say aloud : "Venus guide my dreams tonight - Is he the one for me?" and then place the amulet under your pillow. Try to remember your dreams in the morning and you will have your answer.
