Manchester's United Manager Goes Down In History

Sir Alex Ferguson has been manager of Manchester United for nearly twenty years and has gone on to win 20 major trophies.
Before becoming a manager he was a professional footballer playing for many established teams. He played for Queen’s Park, St. Johnstone, Dunfermline, Glasgow Rangers, Falkirk and Ayr United.
Sir Alex retired from football and went onto managing East Stirlingshire, St Mirren and Aberdeen. His management of Aberdeen so them win three Scottish titles, four Scottish cups, and one league Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup.
On the 6th November 1986 Sir Alex became the manager of Manchester United. When he took over the team they were at risk of relegation, but managed in finish in 11th place in the Premier League.
Manchester United went on to win the FA Cup during the season 1989/90. The next season, the team won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in Rotterdam. The League Cup trophy was later added to trophy cabinet in 1999 and 2000.
The Reds signed Eric Cantona in 1992 and went on to win the League Championship against Aston Villa. They did the double in 1993 – 94 and the double-double 1995-96.
Sir Alex led Manchester United into history with winning the Premiership Title, FA Cup and European Cup. After the amazing treble win, Sir Alex received knighthood from the Queen.
In 1999 the club won another title and secured three-in-row during the season 2001-2002.
Ferguson is also keen to keep the team fresh and is always looking for promising football talent on field. He signed two of the best players in the World of football Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo.
2005-2006 Manchester United won Carling Cup and their ninth Premiership triumph in 2006- 2007. Sir Alex signed three new players in 2007, FC Porto’s Anderson, Sporting Lisbon’s Nani and Owen Hargreaves.
In 2008 Manchester United secured a second win by defending the Premier league title. They also defended a second Champions League trophy to add to the already overflowing trophy cabinet.
Manchester United Football Club is at the top of their game with some of the world’s best players in their club. They have proved time and time again that they are a team to be reckoned with.
